Consultation Services

local + virtual services

I’ve helped people just like you go from:

Empty rooms turned dump zones of the unwanted and unclaimed- to a backdrop for family game nights and group study sessions.

A room full of mismatched, hand me down furniture, to the perfect spot to connect after a long week… hello, in-home date destination.

A place that served its purpose, but felt pretty blah and brought with it more of a running to do list than a relaxing vibe, to just that- a place to lean back and enjoy the moment.

Taking a living room from “it’s ok, I like it and it suits our needs for the most part” to “I love being in here! I feel so comfortable and relaxed, my mood instantly improves and I feel so good sharing it and having a place for everyone.”

Design Consultations are the most flexible way to work together. Essentially, we'll work together in the way that makes the most sense for you and your project.

This time could be used for creating a shopping plan (and giving you the goods on where to go for the best deals!), brainstorming, making selections, providing styling tips your room, space planning- the options are endless!

While our time is tailored to your needs, these are the most common ways I've helped people get their projects done with this service:

Room by Room

You're tired of dreaming of that completed, pulled together and beautiful room, and ready to start living in it. This could be from the ground up or using items that you already have. Maybe you have an idea in mind, a Pinterest board full of wishes, but no idea where to start- this is it.

We'll go through your wants and needs and come up with a step by step plan that you will achieve results with! Depending on what you prefer we can mastermind a high level plan that you can run with during a single session or we can dive deeper into the elements of your design- the layout/space plan, design concept, furnishing details and steps to complete for you to take and check off to completion. Both of these styles are amplified with check in sessions for accountability, problem solving and design coaching as you turn those dreams into reality, but a lot can get done in a single session and if you’re prepared and ready to go we can absolutely create a plan for you to execute.

Around the House/Here and There

This is the get it done, cross it off the list style of working together. You know the list... the "around the house wishlist" that keeps growing and sometimes you're not even sure which item to start with because they all seem connected and you don't want to make mistakes. Spoiler alert: they are all connected.

Need to replace your living room area rug to one that holds up to your needs and blends in with the rest of your decor and elevates your space (without making the wrong choice two times first??)... I've got you.

Maybe you're prepping for a big party and you're looking to make the biggest bang for your buck with some updates that aren't too invasive but pack that wow factor... yes.

These sessions often have specific "problems" to be solved- where to go for the best drapes, lamps, area rugs in your budget- or what's the right size coffee table for my sofa, how much space do I need between the walkway and the chairs do I need? This is it- clear direction, questions answered and now you're ready to make moves without the costly and unfortunate mistakes.

Working in either of these styles we can use virtual consultation sessions to get your questions answered and create a roadmap for your project OR as a kick off point to working further together.

what can be solved
in a consultation?

Choosing your finishes.

Making a decision on a finish (upholstery, tile, wood tone/stain, etc.) can be overwhelming, especially when there are countless options. Based on familiarity and experience, we’ll help you make a choice that makes sense for your lifestyle and design goals.

Knowing where to go.

Not even counting online options there are dozens of places to find what you’re looking for- furniture, decor, artwork, framing, bedding, pillows, etc. Over the years we’ve found our go-to’s and we can go over what you need and the best options to get it.

*Extra bonus: working together gives you access to trade only vendors as well as custom options

Order of operations.

When you’re taking on a diy project, the most common area we see errors is in the order in which you do things. It seems silly, but it’s easy to overlook things like measuring before shopping (+ knowing how big your clearances are!) or what to choose first when you’re updating a room.

General Rules. (rule of thumb)

How large should your area rug be? How much room between your sofa and your coffee table? Where should your pendants be hung? These are all things we cover. And let me tell you, they make a HUGE difference. You might not think you notice, but little issues with scale and sizing will bother you- whether consciously or subconsciously.

How to work with existing items.

Most of us have sentimental pieces that we don’t want to part with, but they may not fit seamlessly into our current design goals. One of my favorite things is finding ways to incorporate these items. Whether it’s reupholstering, painting or repurposing it, we’ll help you figure out how to make it not only work, but really shine.

Budget woes.

Most of the time when we work with clients, there’s a lot of unknowns when it comes to how much things cost. We’ll help you get a better understanding of what you can get done within your investment range and ways of stretching your dollar where needed.

FAQs

  • Simple. Just click “book it” below and do it! You’ll receive a follow up with a questionnaire that’ll give us insight into your project and a little what to expect rundown so that we can make the most of our 1:1 meeting time.

  • It'll surprise you how much! What we focus on depends on your needs and where you’re at in the process, but common dilemmas to solve in our time together are: furniture suggestions and where to get them, solutions for a tricky layout, tips on the order of operations for a DIY project, suggestions for dressing your windows, questions answered on how to blend styles, updating existing furniture and decor… the list goes on.

Following your booking, I’ll send you a guide on how to best prepare to make the most of our consultation. Or, if you’re at the beginning stages of a project we can spend the time brainstorming or even discussing how I could help you further in the future! The time is yours and I’m here to help :)

For example a typical 30 minute virtual consultation could cover:

    • layout help for up to a 600 sq ft room with measurements or with target measurements provided (ie if it’s your existing furniture you’d have all of the dimensions at the ready, if you’re looking for new pieces either we’d look at ones you’ve earmarked or I’ll give you target dimension ranges to look for)

    • how to incorporate a couple sentimental passed down pieces of furniture into your home now that you’re updating your style

    • choosing a fabric for your new piece of furniture and how to blend it with your existing decor (if you have all specs and pictures ready this could be up to 3 pieces- ex. a sofa, a chair and ottoman)

A typical 60 minute virtual consultation could cover all of the above with more detail or:

    • Working up a project investment- dependent on the scope and involvement this could be a loose estimate or tighter with options of where to purchase/exact suggestions

    • Creating a design concept for your room- details dependent on the scope (i.e color palette, furniture style and included general furniture pieces down to exact paint/wallpaper suggestion, rug options and furniture suggestions)

A typical 90 minute virtual consultation could cover all of the above with more detail or:

    • Create an order of operations for your upcoming project

    • Make a detailed plan based on exactly what you’re looking to achieve in your project- who to look to hire, where to shop, how to blend styles, what sizes you need for each item for it to feel professional and balanced, the proper clearances to include around all of your furniture, how to know where to save vs. splurge

  • We can accomplish a lot in a consultation appointment! It depends on where you’re at in the process that will really determine what we work on and how far we get. At the very early stages a 90 minute In Home Review can be a great appointment to help you understand what can be done with what you have- creating a game plan for you to start running with. If you’re a little further, we can actually create the entire road map- what you need to purchase and where, what work you need done and who you need to hire, the order of operations, making some finish selections- if you have the info needed and questions lined up, I’ll get you the answer!

Following your booking, I’ll send you a guide on how to best prepare to make the most of our consultation. Or, if you’re at the beginning stages of a project we can spend the time brainstorming or even discussing how I could help you further in the future! The time is yours and I’m here to help :)

  • There’s no obligation to move forward with consultation services, so the one time fee could be it.

There’s also the option to add check ins for accountability and making new decisions or upgrade to a Custom Room Design should you decide you’d like more guidance.

  • A Consultation gets right to it. We jump in and focus on your specific issues for the hour that we have together. A Custom Room Design goes much further- we'll create a concept board, space plan, furniture layout, shopping list and styling guide so that you can complete your project on your schedule, but still have guidance.

  • I’ll help you avoid costly mistakes as well as give you insight on ways to save money. This could mean forgoing unnecessary additions or changes, pointing you toward a better option of furniture selection (quality or cost wise) or finding ways to work with what you have while achieving the look you’re going for.
